Missy Moo, 4 years old, had a very wise explanation on the stolen pumpkins. In an attempt to comfort her mother, she had this to say about those pumpkin thieves, in her matter of fact voice.
"They thought it was a pumpkin patch, but it was just our house. We will buy some more pumpkins and watch for them, and when they come back to take them, we will tell them it's not a pumpkin patch, it's just our house!"
A good lesson from the oh so young and wise! Take heart!

ReplyDeleteWe had our pumpkins stolen one year too...who steals pumpkins?! Grrr. Very cute story :)
ReplyDeleteSO sweet when we can see things through the innocent eyes of a child! We may get stressed about stuff, but the kiddos are so good at taking things in stride. What sweeties.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I think you mean 'Smashing Pumpkins' in the picture quote. :D
Yes, it is Smashing Pumpkins. Just never corrected it.
Deletecute story. human beings are ridiculous. my mother had beautiful green pepper growing along the edge of her flower bed and while she was gone one day, someone came along and picked every one of them!
ReplyDeleteOne thing that makes me so angry is a total disregard for other people's feelings, property, boundaries. And stealing pumpkins from someone else's porch qualifies on all counts. I needed a lesson on forgiveness 4 yr old style!
ReplyDeleteAwww so sad the pumpkins were taken. It's just mind blowing how unconcerned people can be for others. I love the 4 yr old's response. Very sweet. Dropping by from Mama Kat's
