Leaves

Autumn is my favorite season. My birthday (Sept 21) usually falls on the first day of Autumn. I can always tell. There's excitement in the air, it smells crisp, is a little chilly, is splashed with vivid colors of orange, yellow, red, and green.... painting the landscape everywhere I look. Autumn really is the year's last, loveliest smile!

I took Kaylene's advice and tried a little magic on the original leaves picture (below). I photo edit using picmonkey, a free editing program on-line. I first went to effects and applied orton, and then cinerama. Then I went to textures to smudge and then paint. I can't tell you exactly what I did. I was just playing around and having way too much fun to notice. All I know is that I was pleased with the effect I created. Finally, I added text. If you haven't tried picmonkey you really should!

This is my original leaves picture. The hubs and I went on a Sunday drive to the beautiful Heber Valley where he grew up. I was amazed that the leaves in the canyons were already turning color in the middle of August. I took this picture above Midway, a small resort town just west of Heber.

  1. Love picmonkey. I used it on my post, too, but just to add some contrast and color. Oh, and there was some junk on the table I had to clone off. I like what you did! Hope to see more in the future.

  3. Hi Carol, I use Photoshop Elements 10, plus filters from Topaz Lab and I also first edit in Lightroom, as I shoot a lot in Raw. Cheers

  4. It does seem like the leaves are changing a little early this year. I love how your picture turned out--and Happy Birthday to you. I'll call you again, maybe tonight?

  5. Pinterest is like looking at a catalog. You find a picture you like, you snip it out and put it in file in a drawer. When you get to your project you pull it out and look at it. Sometimes you never get to that project so the clipping lies in the drawer forgotten. But Hey, you enjoyed it for a minute and since it is a virtual file it isn't taking up any real space. It's all in fun. It can be a time waster if you aren't careful. It's kind of fun to see what people you are pinning because it tells you a little bit about who they are and what they like. It's not loke facebook or blogging in that you don't interact with people unless you choose to comment. I looked for you but couldn't find you. Pin something off one of my boards and I'll follow the link. Let me know what your user name is. I like facebook. The kids in the family like it better than blogging and actually put their news up before blogging about it.
